Come in! Come in and learn the history of Torrenigma Escape Room! A place full of magic, enigmas and surprises, where you will live unique and unrepeatable adventures.
2016 / 2017 “The Arcane Amulet” Escape Room
The Torrenigma embryo was primarily gestated over the winter of 2016 to 2017, with the first adventure being designed and built during the spring prior to opening.
After several months designing riddles and puzzles, gathering period props (many of which are authentic), and planning the construction and decoration of the space, “The Arcane Amulet” had already taken shape. We were very happy with the script of the story and the integration of all the puzzles into the theme.
Our main source of inspiration was the literature of authors such as Howard Phillips Lovecraft and Edgar Allan Poe, as well as many great classics in the history of graphic adventures and mystery games. The biggest challenge was achieving an escape room with puzzles closely linked to the narrative.
Torrenigma was officially born on July 29, 2017. Two months behind schedule, we finally opened the doors in the middle of the high season of a summer that, historically, was one of the busiest in Torre del Mar to date. That made the start notable, since despite being completely unknown as a new leisure activity, we had a lot of movement from the opening day, being able to celebrate our inauguration as a great success.

2018 / 2019 “Secret Project” Escape Room
Our motto “Live unique and unrepeatable adventures” was the maxim by which we were guided when creating our second room or, better said: adventure. The idea was to conceive a game that, despite having the Torrenigma imprint, was nothing like its predecessor, “The Arcane Amulet.”
On this occasion we opted for a technological theme set in the near future, where players had to experience different aspects: observation, lateral thinking, visual skill, attention to history, meticulous registration, etc…
It is a quite alternative game to the more classic Escape Room industry, in which the escape artists must take the role of a group of agents and whose objective is to complete a series of missions (main and secondary), thus deriving – depending on of the team’s merits and errors – in 8 different endings that are broken down into letters (S, A, B, C, D, E, F and Z).
There were so many original ideas for puzzles, tests and puzzles for the game, that we had more than three hours of adventure time (at the standard pace of a team with little experience), so we had to do a huge sifting and discard the most complex, crazy and difficult to implement. As a curiosity, this room represents the pioneer of its kind within the province of Malaga, since it was the first room completely free of locks to be built, or as it is known in escapist jargon, a “lockless escape room”.
It wouldn’t be until Christmas 2018 that we finished testing – with the help of our most trusted and close escapist friends – our second adventure, “Secret Project”. When we were sure that it was complete and up to the standards of our most demanding escapists, we inaugurated it, coinciding with the new year. On the afternoon of January 1, 2019, the first official games of “Secret Project” were held.
2019 / 2023 “Source Code” Escape Room
However, many great ideas were left in the pipeline during the construction of the Secret Project adventure, either for reasons of technical complexity, budget or, directly, playing time (there was material for more than two hours of additional adventure). We were very sorry not to develop them, so the solution was clear: make a bilogy, in which players could play two consecutive adventures. In this way we could make all those ideas that were discarded come true with the idea of offering a much more complete experience.
At that time we already had our sights set on the sequel to this adventure, called “Source Code”, which is intended to be the continuation of the events of “Secret Project”, 12 hours later. Being the continuation of a lockless room (without padlocks) and having to be integrated into the space where the first part takes place, it implies carefully thinking about every detail, change and alteration of the space so that one game does not disturb the other and vice versa. In this way, both games will coexist in the same space, making it feasible to play both in consecutive sessions.
To understand the delay in the construction of our rooms, two additional factors must be taken into account: the first is that we usually build and design almost all the personalized elements of the room, which consumes enormous time. The second is that we are perfectionists and nonconformists, and we always seek to innovate and surprise with original and exclusive things – as far as possible. And this consumes even more game design and planning time.
In May 2023 we finally began Beta Testing the game and then discovered, with great concern, that the game lasted more than 2 hours. We immediately decided to work hard and against the clock to materialize our desire to have an enjoyable and dynamic adventure, thus wanting to reduce it below the psychological barrier of 75 minutes, the maximum bearable time for the average inexperienced escape artist.

2020 / 2021 “TowerNet Organization” Online Escape Room
Then the fashionable pandemic would arrive, the coronavirus or COVID-19, with which the escapist break was inevitable. Believe it or not, Escape Rooms are not an essential activity! 🙁
We were not going to sit idly by, so taking advantage of this sudden stop we organized, together with other colleagues from the Andalusian sector, the “Adventure on the Network” project (#aventuraenlared). In this project, together with Torrenigma, “La Casa de las Habitaciones”, “D-20 Escape Game”, “EscapEvent” and the now extinct “Escape Cube” (from the province of Cádiz) participated, and we had the collaboration of Spanish Red Cross. It consisted of an activity with daily deliveries to play through different networks remotely and in teams. Despite its considerable difficulty, it had a fantastic reception and a lot of participation.
9 months later (or one pregnancy later) arrived, almost without warning, TowerNet Organization: an ambitious project that was an experimental mix of online escape game, multiplayer graphic adventure and role-playing game, and it was designed to be played by video conference (using the Zoom app) with a live ‘Game Master’ alongside whom the players must solve intricate 75-minute missions.
After the pandemic stopped, construction work on the next physical escape room, “Source Code”, was resumed and two long years later the project finally saw the light of day.
2023 / On progress – “The Great Pirate Adventure” Escape Room
Although the name is surely provisional, perhaps you can already deduce what our next great adventure is about. For it we expanded our facilities with a new and spacious premises where we will house our new creature, whose construction has already begun. 🙂
